Roberto Soko: “Balkan Beats Soundlab” (2012)
DJ Robert Soko’s album form 2012 is a real party-record. He’ve collected some gipsy orchestras from all over the world and added contemporary rhythms. There’s Slavic Soul Party from New York, BerlinskyBeats to Antwerp Gipsy Ska Orkestra(!). This is nomadic music with the fastest horns, and dance-beats who forces you to dance wether you want to or not… Robert Soko is from Bosnia and moved to Berlin in the early 90’s – where he started to work as a DJ, and invented the term “BalkanBeats” which today is a genre in itself. This is the newest record of my top 100, but I think it has the potential to move further up my chart in time!
